This bungalow style house redesigned by Canadian architect Randy Bens, is a bigger and better version of the 1954 original. Located in New Westminster, British Columbia, a post-war suburb characteristic of the modernist architecture popular in that era, the bungalow house maintains its distinctive style and look. The owners (Mom, Dad and three sons aged 17 to 26) had outgrown the L-shaped bungalow and the home addition would become the new digs for the parents, complete with a studio, a master suite, and a rooftop loft with a walkout to the deck to make the most of the spectacular view. The upper level is light and airy, featuring glass walls that mirror the main floor, but enclosed in a horizontal screen that provides added privacy to both the interior sand the outdoor entertaining area. Interiors have a homey, relaxed air, complete with living areas, work space and an open concept layout suited to socializing with family and friends. Randy Bens via Architizer
